You are HILARIOUS Rachy!! I was actually laughing out loud at your entry!! You write so well.
But on a different note, I can see how that would be really aggravating - it's scary when things don't go well with officials huh. Are you coping OK?? If you wanna call me you have my cellphone number, and of course my email addr. Do you feel safe? Everything under control?
You seem to have progressed to country #3 very quickly - you'll soon overtake me in the race for most countires! LOL.
yeh i think il be nice like alice and not let the world know your awesome plans for your kids names
(just so your friends still think you're innocent and care totally about the children... :-P)..
how about....joany babe and.....zyliz (you can unscramble)
What do you reckon...it might bring back glorious (now im 80) memories!
xoxoxx
love you

So Rach, how much are you gonna pay me to keep my mouth shut about the name you wanted to give your child??
Just kidding, I wouldn't be so mean as to blackmail you...
Anyway, how about Rex Kwon Do, so they realise your son is really tough - even better protection against baddies! - and Cornelia - it's such a beautiful name don't you think?
Girl Eating "pain Au Chocolat"
yes; of course those are the cookies. they almso have faces on them. unfortunately, being poor I didnt buy such luxurious items. And no, there are no towels provided anywhere I have been - maybe its like that in New York luvvy but here in Lomè things arnt so fancy. E.g - the first day i was here the power went out (hte whole city) 4 times... ahhh candlelight showers. Kind of good actually, you feel clean and you cant see the permanent african dirt thats caked on.
About people guessing where NZ is - yesterday i had;
"You from America?"
"No, New Zealand"
"Ah... Canada!!!"
sure... cos that makes sense
Liv
Rachie!
..i have a plan...why don't you learn to ride your OWN motorbike so we can avoid all these traffic incidents that seem to happen/lucky to get away from something happening!! And your goal is to teach someone the French horse saying dad tried to teach us at our Nightly Dinner French Lessons...
please tell your sister she's nuts! (..just kidding) but totally agree with her- the updates are abosolutely essentials!.. by the way you might want to correct her thinking of your "luxery" two towels since they consist of a 10year old fraying handme down from mum...hehe
got letter today-very spastic-it was from accra...even though had recent ones before it- it even came covered in genuine ghanain dust and dirt!! mmm...
Found out got prefect just now- yay!! im just lookin forward to th breakfast on friday...hehe.
off 2 babysitting so wil write you email soon!!
Love you!

PSS: Have you tried getting people to guess where NZ is?
Ten bucks says they'll say Europe or Scandinavia!
Alice
PS: Are BN cookies those big square ones with chocolate inside them? That's so awesome!!
Remind you of your second favourite home do they? :P Now all you need is couscous!
Alice
You took TWO towels with you?! Ohmigosh, what a luxury traveller!! You could probably get away with sending one of those home; do you find most backpackers places provide you with towels anyway? Or are they not of that standard in west Africa?
Are they awesome at soccer over there? I seem to remember Togo featured in the World Cup, right?
I am tres impressed with your French - that's awesome you remember how to say 'frightened' - good work!!
I wanna hear another update! To Rachy's friends: shall we start a chant?
UPDATE CHA CHA CHA!! UPDATE!! UPDATE CHA CHA CHA!! UPDATE!!
WE WANT, WE WANT, AN UPDATE!!
Got the message?
Anyways, love you and will be praying for safety on crazy motorbike taxis for ya! xo
Raachelle
Caro, Charli and Noa - Bonjour! Ces`t tres bon of you to write... that explains how terrible my french is... hehe
Togo is awesome, I love the fact that they speak french. Im slowly getting a bit better at speaking it but I think itl take a while. I did manage to explain to the motorbike taxi dude that i was scared "une petit peu peur" - Im sure thats bad vocab but he understood, and drove faster! Was fun though!!!!
Alice, yes my travel towel is awesome! I use it if Im staying somewhere for one night cos the other one takes long to dry. Havent tried out the cake saying BUT guess what I found at the supermarchè? BN COOKIES!! Actually made my day, dunno why but I guess if nothing is gonna remind me of NZ then it can remind me of other `homes`... attempting to lighten bag by sending some stuff I bought here home and going to get rid of some other things that are heavy as bag is just too much at the mo.
Good thing about being such a budget traveller is that I walk everywhere (apart from the odd moto-taxi) so getting very fit (I hope).
Barbara - If you read this you might be pleased to know that not only did I get bitten heaps yesterday (Togo mossies like me alot more than Ghanaian ones) but I also got shocked by the water boiler thing! So now we are even?
Alice
Bonjour Rachy,
Felicitations on making it to Togo!! Have you used your useful phrase about the gateau de chocolat yet?
How is your bag going to be lightened? How much does it weigh? It sucks having a heavy pack huh!! Has your travel towel come in handy?
Housekeeping took mine from the New York youth hostel (accidentally) and when I found out it was too late at night to retrieve it, then I left them a note for them to post it to me and they sent me someone else's NON-travel-sized towel, so I'm really bummed about that...
J'attenderai ta prochaine update [French??] avec anticipacion!
D'Alice.
PS: I'm so jealous you get to practise French!!
PSS: I think you spelt baguette right! Tres bien!
