I think Germany is a country that grows on you the more time you spend here. Well for me, it was never one of those places i dreamed about visiting. But the longer I spend here and the more I see the more I like it. From the great German inventions - a bike that you can drink beer and cycle around town on to the hilarious sounding words (I personally love the ones that are really about 3 words joined together to make foreigners sounds like they are about 5 and trying to read...) to the friendly people who don't laugh (too much) at my terrible pronounciation.
My German course idea was one that must go to the 'do at some other stage of my life' pile. I turned up to the class after being told they were about 2 lessons (out of ten) ahead thinking that I might be able to catch up with a bit of help. Instead I found myself in a room full of German speaking foreigners... I was completely lost and was not too keen on volunteering any of my 'useful sayings' to prove I wasn't completely stupid... So my brain will now continue to shrivel (spelling?) up like a raisen like a true travellers should.
Today I went with Pia and her friend to the zoo. It would be an understatement to say that it was different from seeing animals in the national parks in Africa... At that time I thought it was pretty tough that a group of lions, for example, would have at least 6 safari vans circled around them with tourists such as myself peering at them while they napped. But after being reintroduced to the whole zoo idea I think that they actually had it pretty sweet. Thats not to say that I didn't enjoy the zoo, it was fun and I did get to see an AMAZING animal. One that in New Zealand I hardly ever saw... the SHEEP!
