As you can see by the photo I forced myself to visit a chocolate shop in Brussells and oh the hardship. For a fairly small price you can pick and choose what chocolates you want into a pretty little box with a ribbon. But forget the appearance, we all know that its whats inside that counts. And mmmmmm they are beautiful!
Since Saturday I have been lucky enough to stay at the Vero's house in a town called Diest (pronouced Deeest as I found out after being looked at strangely) in Belgium. Its a gorgeous house with friendly cats, my own room, stables for her horses, a big TV but best of all - a piano. Luckily there is a soft pedal so I don't break too many windows with my playing as I have forgotten so much already!
Today we went on an outing to Brussells. Oh the luxury of not going by train, by bike or by metro - we went by CAR! With Vero making a pretty good tour guide we wandered the city visiting famous national icons such as the peeing boy - Mannekin Piss (yep, a statue of a boy peeing... interesting) and the Atomium - a building in the design of an iron atom (clearly with my chemistry skills I recognised what it was... sure I did). Packing a large number of people into a small lift we shot up to the 100m high top part of the atom (I suppose I should know what its called, where is Mrs R when you need her!) and despite the fogginess it was a pretty awesome view of the city.
Eventually, in true Opua style I removed my shoes for our walk in the park. Don't worry, I wasnt't trying to give kiwis a bad rep, I got myself huge blisters. Not too many people stared at me... maybe there are more people from Opua here than I thought. Opua represent!
