Hey everyone, sorry to be complaining so much at the end of the trip but here comes some more. The hostel we are staying in is definitely nicer than YMCA, but we had to pay cash only for the room. They were just really slow and wouldn't let me pay less and the others pay more because i had paid the deposit. We are in an 8 bed dorm and 4 rooms share 1 bathroom. Thats 32 people sharing one bathroom, and there is no hot water ever. To top it all off, the lift is broken and we are on the 7th floor (of 7). So bit f***ed off that we are here for 12 nights.
However, I love New York. We got dropped off by the bus in the middle of china town but somehow negotiated the subway to our hostel. It was a miracle. It was really nice to see adam after all these months. We chatted in our room for a bit and then got the subway to times square and had dinner at bubber gumps shrimp factory. Which was lovely.
Yesterday we got the subway all the way down to the bottom of manhatten and then got the statten island ferry. We saw the statue of liberty along the way adn took some photos. Then we got the bus to the statten island mall and did some shopping. I didn't get anything though. When we got back to manhatten, we got the subway to times square again and had some dinner, then had a browse in an enormous virgin shop.
This morning we went for a jog in central park and then had showers and went back to central park for the day. We saw people playing baseball, the jackie kennedy reservoire, the lake and strwberry fields, which is a tribute to john lennon. It took ages to walk all round it. Then we spent about 3 hours, sat by the lake, listening to music, dozing, reading.
Tomorrow, we are hopefully going to go to ground zero which is where the twin towers used to be. The scottish boys are getting to new york tomorrow and they are staying at the same hostel as us for 5 days, so i guess we shall be hanging out with them.
Only 10 days till i fly home now. Love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
