Days 2 and 3 in Ho Chi Minh City
Day 2:
We lazed about really - checked in to a new hotel...felt like a chenge of senery, and a little more style. Then pretty much did what the locals do.
We walked a bit and ended up in a very smart air conditioned shopping centre which had a Game centre - we played some bowels and some pool. Seriously hot here, so we welcomed the air con in the mid day heat. We also treated ourselves to a KFC fillet burger!!!!!! SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD! Now, we never get fast food like this, but it was so necessary! noodles were just not cutting it anymore :-) .
Also joined the locals in the park in the evening. This country is stunning - they all get together in the park and do whatever exercise they feel like in the evening. Either they are playing their own sort of footy game - with a weight and a feather - which they kick around in a circle (have bought one, so will show you when we are back - We are useless compared to these guys)....or they are learning how to dance, or they are doing aerobics, or they are walking around in a circuit (which is a circuit in an anti clockwise direction up and down the park) or they are playing badminton - or they are just running/stretching on the spot! So...we decided we were going to join them on their walk around the park. We spiced it up with a bit of jogging every now and again - although, I am so unfit at the moment, that I kept on getting a stitch!!!!! Ouch!
Dinner then involved another delicious NOODLE dinner and a few beers (my first drink was a cocktail special - which was so strong that we could smell the fumes when they brought it to the table! - I had to order a sprite so that I could dilute it!) - then finished with a few beers instead.
Day 3:
Cu Chi Tunnel Tour....up early for our departure - Mr Bean (the tour guide) was a real character and loved the sound of his own voice. He was in the war himself and has seen and travelled a lot - and really does enjoy telling stories. He was excellent!
The Tunnels were amazing - built all of this under the American's nose....built the tunnels with three different levels, inlcuding air tunnels and traps. got some good videos.
Some poor kid jumped in to a tank that was put out of use from a landmine. He mis judjed the dept and cut his skill open! Never got to see the tunnels, as he had to go off for stiches. Bummer.
Really hot today! just decided to come back and enjoy the aircon until the sun is less hot and will then head out again.
