Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
It's June! Woooo!! So chuffed!! O.K, so last night we found a nice Vietnamese joint to eat in- got some noodles and veg. Planned to go out on a bit of a boozer since there seemed to be happy hours galore going on, but I felt so dehydrated from the awful sunburn I got. So I just stocked up on lemon juice (no sugar- my fave) and headed for bed. The others planned to head out for a big night but we all KO'd in my room. Major applyage of after sun was needed all round. Woke up this monring in pretty much hard core pain. My ass has been on fire all day. My own fault, but doesn't make it hurt any less. All slept in a bit, then enjoyed our delicious free breakfast downstairs. Chez and Kirsty went to do their own thing, while Sarah, Annie and I went around the town on cyclos (each of us sit in a little carriage pushed by a cyclist). We found a Buddhist Pagoda, which proved to be pretty impressive. There was a huge crystal white Buddah on a hill behind the temple and a Sleeping Buddah" half way up. We were approached by guys in blue shirts, who told us that they were orphans, and lived with the monks and the things they sold were to gain money for the monks school they went to. We tried to get past them but I'm too weak and ended up buying some paintings from them. No idea if they were genuinely orphans, etc. So we headed up the hill to check out the Buddhas and took some Touro snaps. There were a group of kids at the top that were trying to sell candy sticks. Sarah's flip flop broke and one of the kids got out some string and patched is up for her- was ace- so we gave him a little bit of money and gave another boy my coke. I gradually became more and more dehydrated so as we headed back on foot to our hotel, we stopped in a café for a drink and later on for yoghurt. But still, by the time I got back, I was completely zonked and close to KO'ing for real. So I got 2 lemon juices down me and began to feel better. Been writing this up ever since. The others went for a snack and are now having a siesta. Think we're heading out for a "pre-Kirsty birthday doo" cause it's other Kirsty's 18th birthday a week today. Little Chicken that she is.
