Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
Up MEGA early since I had a booked a couple of dives with Georgie. There was news that there had been 5m long black tips spotted a certain dive site recently so I got that particular one booked. Got picked up by long tail boat, then onto a big diver's boat to head to the pinnacle, where we were diving. Unfortunately the visibility was really poor since the full moon had just past, so the tides were rough, causing murkiness in the water. Still managed to see some awesome shoals of sexy fish though. After 2 dives and a very very rough ride on the boat, we finally touched land. Georgie headed off to meet the others who had changed accommodation. The waves were so big that a long tail couldn't take me back to the resort, so this poor Thai guy that worked for the dive shop was instructed to drive me back on his moto- on a craaazy road. I was like 'there's no way he'll get his bike down the track' since I'd walked it before and it wasn't even really a track at all. So off we went, after a few times having to jump off and push, walking some of the way, carrying the bike over boulders and finally, a punctured tire- it would have been far easier if I'd just walked! I have no idea how the poor guy got back up that crazy hill with a punctured tire. Guess I will never know. Once back, Darren and I grabbed some lunch and chilled for the afternoon. Headed to the Pier for lunch at a really nice Chinese restaurant. Then headed to the next beach to meet the others for a few drinks. Just as we head out, a monsoon struck really badly. Chez, Darren and I took refuge in a nearby shop and ended up just sitting on the floor of the shop until the rain passed. The owner was probably a bit miffed we didn't actually buy anything. Think Darren found Chez highly amusing- don't know who wouldn't- she's an absolute ledge! Just too funny. Once the rain passed, we headed to another bar for drinks then for a wee boogie. I was becoming increasingly tired, so we decided to head of. To our great luck, as we began the long walk back to the Pier, Mr Bond was just getting out his truck. Mr Bond is this guy that always offered us a taxi back to the resort by road, but it had always been far more expensive that by boat. But it was pretty late and I was not up for having to get a boat in the waves or actually having to walk the whole way. So we finally took him up on his offer and he managed to find a different road that took us the whole way, which was ab fab. Once back, we still had to pack, since we were leaving early the next morning for Bangkok.
