Krakow, Poland
I have just now managed to get the iPad off Andrew. We've spent the evening planning out our next few days and he stumbled across a website of reviews. We now know what is worth going to and what is not so good which has really helped to narrow down our options. You'll have to read in the coming days to see our adventures ;-)
We had a massive day of driving, travelling from Budapest to Krakow via Slovakia. Again the change from country to country was amazing. The houses in Slovakia were concrete rendered blocks, a lot of which had flat roofs. We travelled through lots of small country towns and then up into the beautiful forests.
After my stint of driving through the windy forested road I moved to my allocated back seat and promptly fell asleep. I missed crossing the boarder into Poland but Andrew has taken a video for me. I awoke to find we were surrounded by cute log houses, pine trees and hundreds and hundreds of people. We were attempting to find a cable car that travelled some 900km up into the hills. By the time we reached the top car park (only for taxi's mind you) we realised that all the people were walking to the cable car...we aborted our attempts and headed for Krakow instead.
The Polish countryside is simply beautiful and I can imagine it covered in snow. We have been picking out all the possible ski runs that snake down the mountainsides between the thick forests.
It was lovely to sit, enjoy dinner around the dining table and get some sort of plan organised, but for now it is off to bed.
