So after chaing Mai we headed back down to Bangkok on the awful night train and it took us 17 hours! Once back we booked the next part of our trip, Koh Tao to do our padi open water diver course! Very exciting but nervous too! We made our way there after 2 more nights in Bangkok! Whilst in bangkok we saw our first last boy show (very funny!) and walked for hours to try and find this amazing china town with great markets and food stalls, when we found it it was hot smelly and fish (dead and dried) all over, no amazing food, gutted.
We got the night bus over to Koh Tao but it arrived at the pier at 4 am and the first boat wasn't until 7 am so we just sat in the deck chairs and nap a nap! We finally got to Koh Tao and checked in too our house and went for a walk around and stroll along the beach and a swim in the pool. We were suppose to start the diving the day after but I was sick so waited till the next day. We started our diving in the classroom, watching the really cheesy American videos and answering the knowledge reviews! We then spilt into our group, there were 6 of us, me, min, Jamie and ciaran (Irish) and Karol and niklas (Swedish) and our instructor was Petra, with Rae a newly qualified and Fran who was doing her diver master. The first time we put our diving gear on was the next day when we went to do our confined water swim, to get used the the equipment and practice the skills we would later have to do in the ocean. I hated the skills and could not get my head around taking my mask off, it was awful and every time I took it off water shot up my nose so I panicked and shot to the top of the pool something I couldn't do when in the ocean! But Petra was awesome and I finally did it, hours later! Thats it we were ready for our first dive! Arrrgghhhh! In the morning we all got ready and headed out to the boat for our first dive. Very scared it also so excited to see what's under the sea! Once we were down, we did a couple of skills and swam around looking at all the fish, it was amazing! One of the best experiences I have ever done, there is nothing like it, it's so peaceful and the fish just happily swim around you! We did dives this day and were both ery tired by the end of the day, slept well that night. Dives 3 and 4 were the next day and these were being filmed and we would watch it in the crystal bar that night. Dives 3 and 4 were awesome and we saw our fist turtle! So cool just wtaching them swim effortlessly to the surface. This is when we had to do the mask off skill in ocean, I was s***ting my self, but I did it, yipppppppeeeeee! It was over so could enjoy the rest of he dive not worrying about it. We loved the DVD so much that we brought it (look out for it in the post should arrive in January!) we were now open water divers! Cool! Me and min also did a deep wreck dive with crystal which was great, and saw another turtle at swam right over mine and mins heads was so cool and the biggest giant puffer fish which I keep meaning to upload!
After Koh Tao it was time to head to Koh Phangan for the full moon party. Had a great time here, we hired a scooter and drove all over the island with Jamie and Ciaran, we went to find a water fall but I was dry so it wasn't there! So we drove up to a gorgeous beach and had a drink then it started to rain and not just a little bit, and we had to get all the way back down in the rain, needless to say that we got soaking wet and the rain felt like pins hitting your legs! A warm shower would of been so good, but we only had a cold one, booooo! The full moon par was mental, so many people all dancing on the beach in neon clothes covered in neon paint, awesome! at the end of the night there were people sleeping all over the beach, well passed out rather than sleep! We watched the sunrise back at our bungalows beach then went to sleep for 2 hours before I woke up with chest pains from the red bull so the next day was very long but just chilled out on the beach with Dave Anna and Helen just enjoying our hangovers!
We now headed to Koh Samui, where we bumped back into valentine and Lisa so we pretty much spent the whole time with them which was awesome to see them again! We had to do a dreaded visa run while we were there too, was such a s*** day all for an extra 14 days in Thailand, we literally sat on the bus from 430am till 7pm driving to and from Malaysia to get stamped in and out of the country! Such a waste of a day! We hired bikes here as well and found a waterfall that had water! Was awesome, there wasn't a pool so u couldn't swim but there was a swim! Min and valentine climbed up the waterfall and on the way down min fell and broke his phone! For good this time! We enjoyed Koh Samui but the worst thing is the kids trying to sell u stuff along the beach while your trying to enjoy the evening. Then at 2 3 in the morning they down the green mango selling there necklaces and things, and hey green mango is where most of the hookers are, which is really sad. Koh Samui is worse than Bangkok for hookers and we had one dancing in front of us at 4am. Was funny watching hem drive up to groups of English lads tho. There was another lady boy show here too which was free so we went it, got in to find hat it was 200 baht for a drink and u had to buy one! (200 baht is expensive for a drink in Thailand!) but we loved it was so funny! We have some pics too so look out for them. Most lady boys looks just like women and it's so strange!
We were now in our at to Koh phi phi and It was awful getting there on one bus hen u had to get off randomly and change to another then dropped at another t and t then another bus before getting the boat, which was awful too.. It wash chucking it down in phi phi when we got there and no one seemed to know where our bungalow was, someone even told us that the resort we were staying at had been taking down in the tsunami, great! We went to banana bar and sat down and grid to see if anyone there knew where this place was. But they didn't. We had to use the interne to find it did found out that it had changed its name and then suddenly everyone knew where we meant! We finally made it nice room with hot shower, tv and bed bugs!!! I got bitten 27 times, it was awful and they were the soooooo itchy! Phi Phi was great, but still quite a lot of damage in some parts from the tsunami but, most of it has been rebuilt in the center and u wouldn't know. We went up to the view point and the view over he island was awesome such a beautiful view, took so many pictures of it. On the way back down we there was a pack of wild monkeys and people couldn't get up or down the stairs, one the monkeys took a bottle of water of a girls hand and opened it and drank some of it before throwing it too the floor! We also went on the boat trip to maya bay which is where he beach s filmed, it was such a beautiful beach with the warmest waters! We also went to monkey bay which is covered in... U guess edit monkeys! They were cool these ones snatched food out of peoples hands and had a great time snorkelling at one of the other bays, loads of nemos here! Was a really cool boat trip!
Once finished in phi phi we headed back to Koh Tao to spend our last days in Thailand Dave was there was so cool to spend the time with him there, even if he accident prone. Back in Koh tao we just chilled out and relaxed, drank buckets and ate pizza and 7/11 toasties and partied with lady boys!
Overall an amazing time in Thailand!
