Hello from Bangkok! We arrived yesterday at 4pm local time. It's been a huge culture shock but actually we've loved it and have felt very safe and everyone has been very welcoming and friendly.
So far we've taken the Skytrain from our local station to Siam Square and went for dinner and took a walk down Patpong - Sam was propositioned many times, one man even offered some sort of show with bananas, which is when we promptly walked off!! We then went to the Night Bazaar and got a few bargains - 2 pairs of havannas for 3 pounds (at last I found some mum!), some Prada sunglasses for 4 pounds and a couple of Links of London(ish!) bracelets.
We're now in Ko San Road experiencing the local buckets and hecticness (Sam's word of the trip so far!!) - we're off to check out a few of the other bars and night markets tonight.
Tomorrow we head off to Chiang Mai - we're on the overnight bus, which takes about 11 hours!!! We then have 5 nights accomodation booked there and we go on a 2 day, 1 night safari and elephant trekking. We then head to the Thailand/Laos border and take a slow boat to Pruang Prabang (with a night stop) and then we're going to go tubing in Viang Vieng.
That's our plans so far, sorry for the short blog but just wanted to quickly update you all on our progress. Hope to post another blog in a week or so.
Lots of love Kirsty & Sam xx
