So I didnt get up to much on Friday! I slept quite late and then went to a greek deli nearby for some late lunch then to the shop for some supplies for a night in watching Netflix. It might seem sad to be staying in on a Friday night, but every day is a weekend for me! I keep losing track of what day it is!
I have started watching a series on Netflix called Sex Education, its set in kind of an americanised england and I like that you dont really know what decade it is meant to be. They all have smart phones but the music is really cool 80's and the cars are really old. It is really funny. Gillian Anderson is in it and she is ace!
I woke up at about 4am with a migraine though and felt dreadful and was sick too! I took some tablets and just tried to sleep it off in my dark room. Its horrible being poorly when all you want is your own bed and space!
I felt a bit better by early evening and was getting a bit of cabin fever so got wrapped up and headed out towards the old town, stopping for a falafel on the way!
I went to a few pubs and watched the footy then went to Kiwi bar. You can tell its the weekend as there are loads more brits around! I hadnt really heard an english accent before now! There are also lots of groups of lads, not just english but german etc as well.
In fact, I got chatting to two guys from Leeds - one from Chapel Allerton and one from Swarcliffe! Its a small world!
I went to Kiwi bar again for some gins and got chatting to a group of guys from Tamworth who I had noticed in one of the pubs before, they were here for the weekend and were staying in apartments just above the bar. They were so lovely and friendly and go away somewhere different for the weekend every year (shout out to Phill!!)
I had a couple more drinks and chatted to the waiter who was from Athens and before I knew it, it was 5am again! Time flies! ha ha!
So after another snowy walk home, I couldnt wait to get in bed! I slept so well!
The next day was Sunday and I needed to get some laundry done (running out of pants!! ) so I found a nearby laundrette and while my clothes were washing, just went for a wander. Its still quite pretty and nice out of the old time and its quite a big city really. I just wandered for an hour and it was nice just seeing the locals go about their normal day!
I then found a shop a bit like savers at home and stocked up on some toiletries and even bought a hair dye! (My roots are shocking! John/Sarah, if you are reading this and fancy a trip out to Europe to do my hair, that would be great!!) Although I dont think I can really dye my hair in a hostel! Would be too scared of getting it everywhere!
Once my clothes were washed and dried, I nipped to H&M to buy some more socks and pants just in case I dont get any washing done in a while! I then had a quick veggie burger for tea and just went to a local pub for a couple of beers. It wasnt a very friendly pub though, dont think they are used to tourists!
I went to bed to watch netflix at around 10pm - my bus to Vilnius is at 12 tomorrow so I have time to pack and shower in the morning before I leave.
I have liked Riga, but I havent loved it as much as I thought I would, maybe its better in the summer. Its not been horrible though, I just think Tallinn so ace that it couldnt ever match it! I am excited to go to Lithuania though as dont know much about it really! Going to do some research on the bus on the way there!
