Good morning Koh Tao!
We woke from our crummy hostel and got the hell out of there quicker than you can say 'no private space'! We then decided to explore our new surroundings of Sairee Central and Sairee beach. A small street runs parallel to the beach filled with shops, spas, restaurants and bars (hey that rhymed!). Spotting a spa, I decided to have my first Thai massage experience.
I chose a full body coconut oil massage for 1 hour, and it was fabulous. And Will was right, they do contort your body and click your vertebrae (is that the right word?). But afterwards, I felt amazing. And it cost the English equivalent of £9.
We then headed to a beach bar and had a relaxing cocktail as we overlooked Sairee Beach (see photo). It was beautiful. Hot, we decided to sneak into the hotels pool for a cheeky dip. Here, we randomly bumped into the 3 Brits from our ferry trip over. We spent a few hours chatting, swimming and chilling. We then couldn't resist taking a dip into the sea.
It was warm, shallow and clear. Amazing. We wasted the afternoon away just chilling in the beautiful Thai ocean. Before we knew it, it was 4pm and our first scuba diving lesson was due!
After meeting our instructor, an American called Pete, we were introduced to a couple who we wild be diving with. We then had to suffer a terribly cheese 1990s video about scuba, and answer questions on a worksheet. Zzzzz.
Agreeing on our 8.30 am start the next day, Will and I headed for dinner. And agreed on no drinking!
Well, one cocktail wouldn't hurt.
Maybe a game of pool would be fun? Oh a vodka? Well, one or two will be fine........
