The next day up early yet again we crossed the border into zimbabwe a bit of a marathon but no real hassle then we headed for the town of masvingo and the great zimbabwe ruins, we arrived early evening and settled into rooms this time before siting down at the camp fire eating dinner and having a few beers before getting an early night. The next day we got up and packed then went of to the ruins only a km down the road where we went a 2 hr tour, learnt that after rodesia's independance it was renamed zimbabwe after the great zimbabwe ruins (it means big house of stone)! After out tour we headed for the second biggest city in zimbabwe bulawayo where we stayed at the chipengali wildlife oprhange, we were taken on a tour managed to stroke a rhino, saw plenty of lions, big birds and leopards, oh and also saw a black mamba very deadly snake will kill in 1.5 hrs the guide also told us that currently there is no anti venom in zimbabwe so a bit would be fatal! nice! Next day we set off for vic falls one of the seven wonders of the world! we were travelling a good few hours when our truck actually broke down we pushed it off the road and wonder what would hapen next as we were 20km away from the nearest town and it was about 35 celcius so we got the camp chairs! until a guy passing gave us a lift up to a nearby hotel where the company payed for drinks and a snack so we relaxed there a good bit although it did eat into our time at vic falls. But after a few hours we got picked up by another vehicle and taken to set up camp in vic falls. We arrived in vic falls but had no real money to spend as we had no zim dollars until the guide could change them for us as the bank ripped people off and would mean that a beer would cost a tenner but the rate we got it costed 50p! So that night we arranged to go white water canoeing on the zambesi the next day then went out for a few beers at the local shoestring bars everyone was invite but would you have it only the 'irish' ones went with the guide but was a good laugh and the guide told a few good stories. Got up at 6 to go out on the zambesi i think Rachel was a bit terrified which was not helped by our canoe guide who decided to go over board with the safety just to scare us all! but it was excellent me and rach were in boat I was steering and we went through the rapids only grade 2-3 but seemed big enough but we had a few eventful manoevures which nearly toppled us but we stayed relatively dry cat was in another boat with the girl kate they were the comedic value in the group they could not move in a straight line to save there lives i say that because at one point they were drifting towards a hippo who are man killers and couldn't turn but they eventually got turned and were save enough even though the guide towed them twice! but had a good day then came back showered then went on a sunset cruise on the zambesi with free drinks and dinner so was excellent! saw plently of wildlife good views and good zambesi beer. After the group headed back to camp where african tribal dancers awaited us, was quite funny rachel was dragged up i have the evidence just bide your time! then we went out for a bit to shoestrings and had an excellent night with everyone being out. Nect day we explored the vic falls was massive and we only got to see some of it but it was an amazing sight. Once we came back from the falls we were away to cross the border into Botswana.
