Well we finally arrived in Port Elizabeth or as the locals know it PE very late on as the bus had to stop in the rain because the wippers wouldn't work, but the driver fixed it quick enough. PE is mainly just a transit stop as there isn't much to do but the hostel we were staying at was excellent very stylish and cheap so we stayed a few nights. One of those nights was forced upon us because Rachel had left her bag of presents back in Jeffrey's Bay, after trying in vein to get the bus company to take it from the hostel (the bus is a hostel to hostel backpacker bus) we gave in and had to hire a car for the day. There was the choice then of who would drive, Rachel with driving expereince of a car park and no licence. Catherine who has hit more things with her car than evil kanevil has jumped or me a perfect driver? Me of course! So we packed some goodies into the car (a Fiat Palia) and off we went on our 500km roadtrip. The car was surprisingly quick think it was a 1.4 or 1.6 it had only one problem however once you got to 130km/h the whole thing felt like it was going to fall apart and the steering wheel was crazily shaking. It did however get us to Jeffrey's bay safe and well, once we arrived we then decided to drive to Cape st Francis half hour away which was a cape with a lighthouse (the guide book recommended it). Fairly swiftly moving on we left for PE again however I had earlier spotted on the map a most magical place well probabley called, wait for it Kirkwood! We ended up driving up towards it which happened to be near the big attraction of PE Addo Elephant park, so I planned to get a photo of me under a big sign saying Kirkwood we drove past one and decided we would go on the way back round, however when we eventually came back the police were pulling people over there so couldn't stop, instead had to take a photo out of the window but rachel took it with her camera as it has much better zoom. The photo not currently up here is in Rachels camera and I will have to get it off her soon. Well that pretty much concluded our time in PE as we got the bus the next morning bound for Coffee Bay!
