.. Actually, we're back in Bangkok now, but we did spend the last three days on an island outside Ranong called Ko Phayam. So since last time we've spend a fair amount of time on the bus, and we figure you all deserve quite a long update this time, so here it goes:
First we have to say that we have made loads of rookie mistakes, and some more than once, but three's a charm??
We regret that we stayed so long in Ao Nang (you know.. the tourist place packed with scandinavians and advertisements for Thai boxing on swedish) so long. We did go with longtail boats a couple of days, once to Railey, a place with two quite nice beaches and some monkeys and their very cute monkey babies! The second time we went to an island called Puda where we just chilled, tanned and went for some swims. However we didn't escape all the tourist though..
So you can imagine we were pumped when we were going to head north the Andaman Coast and to Puda. And that's (or a few days earlier) when we made our first mistake. After buying our bus ticket we asked the sweet and helpfull lady at the tourist agency to make a phone call for us to ask if our hostel had some free rooms. They did have rooms with private bathroom, and somehow she convinced us that we should book and pay through them, which we (unfortunatley) did. (follow the story and you shall learn why this was a "tad" unfortunate).
We got up at 6.30am on Monday, waited for our transfer car to take us to our bus. After about 7 hours we reached Ranong bus station (Ranong is a shady border town to Burma), and took a local bus (which we tiped a german couple and two german girls about) down to the pier. When we got of the bus the two of us went first down to the pier, but somehow the german couple bought the tickets before us, which turned out to be the last two on the last boat of the day!! "ARE u Kidding me??" The two other girls and we were offered to rent a boat for 4000 baht (the speedboat ticket cost 350), but the more people the ceaper. In the meantime had another tourist payed a little extra to get on the boat! We weren't espacially happy.. A Thai girl helped us get the price down to 2000B (so 500 each). 10 minutes later we were on a longtail boat (instead of a speedboat) on our way to Ko Phayam.
When we got there we found out that our bungalow was on the the wrong side of the island AND we got the smallest and ceapest of the bungalow (with the hardest bed and pillow ever), however we also found out that we had paid more than the most expensive ones costs. Which means that the lady in Ao Nang scamed us. Our good mood was seriously challenged that day.
The place we stayed at, Sabai Sabai was as a whole an awesome and very chilled place (which we LIKE), and when we could switch rooms the day after we our mood went dramatically up! We also met some nice people there, and we got scammed, once again, by a british guy there (about 50), but this time only in cards :) When we said goodbye he wished us good luck and told us not to get scammed again, before he added: "naa, who am I kiddin'..??". No one really..
Well now we're back in Bangkok, and have found a place to stay. we're looking forward to exploring the city
Kap Kun Kha for now!
