We moved a bit since last time. After briefly staying in Vang Vieng, which we didn't like (except from the loops of Friends and How I met your mother episodes), we went to Vientiane, the capital. Quite small for a capital, (but too big for us), we stayed w few days and visited Buddha park and did some sightseeing. On Sunday Kine got up and realized that Tina was gone, which NEVER happens before 8 am, NEVER! She was a little worried, but after receiving a text that she (Tina) was kidnapped she (Kine) went back to sleep. (It was obvious a joke). Tina came back a little later with pizza and muffin for breakfast! Hurray! We'd postponed Kine's birthday due to bad weather (it rained for three days and was freakin' cold, the temperature dropped from approx 35 to 10-12, then back up to 35 again). And as a birthdaysgift Kine got a ziplining-tour from Tina and her family. Wich we went on the day after.
We ziplined through the jungle outside Vientiane, and it was terrifing, but a lot of fun. Together with us was this brave german woman on about 50(?). At one time she didn't reach the end of the line and couldn't step on to our "tree-platform" so she slided a bit back and had to pull herself back to us, which was really exhausting. After a while it got higher and higher and we got more and more scared, but then we finally hit solid ground, and felt safe again. But while walking from on zip-point to another our guide suddenly jumped (and almost fell) over a SNAKE! And this isn't like the crocodile-that-turned-into-a-turtle kind of a story. It was a snake and we (ok, our guide whom we trust) saw it with his own eyes. Snakeophobs (?) as we are we were delighted to be back up in the trees, even though it was higher than ever. However, we enjoyed the last once (which also were the longest) the most. A great day (except for the snake thing) and the perfect birthdaygift. Kine says thanks :)
After an exhillarating day we got on a bus and headed south, way south. Now we're at Don Khon, which we love just as much as Luang Prabang (except for the food and its prices). We spent the last two days biking around the island looking at waterfalls, chilling on a beach and swimming in Mekong. Slacking is what we do best! Yesterday when we biking back Tina suddenly hit the breaks, then she turns around slowly (looking like she was about to puke) and the said: "Did you see that huge and nasty snake?" Kine: "I certainly did not!". Tina: "Lets just bike as fast as we can past the spot". And so we did, and we never looked back..
Now we'll be staying here for the next few days and exploring the different islands (there aren't 4000 of them), then we'll go back to Bangkok to catch our flight to Taiwan in one week. Hopefully(!!) we'll meet Ingebjorg og Lone there, they've had some major problems with the american embassy after loosing Lone's passport. Hope everything will work out! We look forward to see what our taiwanees friends have planned for us :)
