The last four weeks we have been travelling in organized tours, and full schedule, little sleep, shortage on Internet access, and us being who we are (a little lazy) are reasons why we haven't updated in a while, and why this entry is going to be short and to the point.
After hiding out in our hotel room for two days (because of the heat and that our hotel was located in an area where 99% were men.. and we are blond) it was time to meet our group. We were sure that it would only consist of rich and fat americans, but it turned out to be a great group of people from the age of 19 to 72. Of 13 people six of us were from Scandinavia, two from Australia, two from England, one from Canada and one american.
The first week of our tour was in the north of India. We were met by high mountains when we arrived in our bumpy ride, and at some points we were a bit afraid to tip over the edge of the narrow road. Our guide, Govind, enriched our trip by telling us about India and the culture here with a personal twist. Some of his stories were long, but they never got boring.
In between sightseeing (we can't even count how many temples and monastries we have seen on this trip), enjoying the view (when the clouds showed us some mountains) and drinking tea, we got to know the rest of the group. We were especially impressed by Judie, 68 from Australia, that's been travelling the in every corner of the world, and therefore had the most unbelievable stories. A huge inspiration.
On Friday we went to Bhutan which was what everyone was really looking forward to. But we had to say goodbye to Govind which was a little sad. He surprised us by singing us a song, "I love my India".
To be continued..
