Justin and I left Bocas on the same flight and flew to Panama City. We both then had international flights later in the day, mine being to Colombia. As we had some time to kill, Justin wanted to get some gifts to take home. The taxi driver we managed to get from the domestic airport offered to take us to wherever we wanted to go and then later to the international airport. So he ended up taking us to various shops and locations so Justin could do his shopping...it was like having a personal chauffeur. It was the strangest thing. The taxi driver was a lovely guy and we ended up having lunch with him and later being dropped at the airport.
After a very long day I arrived in Cartagena, on the Caribbean coast of Colombia at about 11pm at night. Luckily I had pre booked a hotel, and in the morning when I woke up I realised I was the only gringo in sight. Later that morning I headed to the old city where most the hostels are and walked the streets trying to find one with a free bed.
In Colombia hardly anyone speaks English, so it was a bit of a struggle for me having not practiced my Spanish for so long.
The afternoon was spent wandering the streets of the old town of Cartagena which is a walled city. It is the most beautiful city I have seen on this trip. It was just wonderful meandering through the streets, sitting in some of the squares and eating ceviche.
Later that night I bumped into 2 guys I had met in Panama who told me about a little fishing village south of Cartagena, so I decided early the next morning to head that way...
