Perpignan, France
The centre of the world is a small coastal village where Anto's parents live a quiet and peaceful life. He spent his teenage years here and left this town of 100k people for a bigger city. It's nice so far.
His father cooked a white butter sauce fish with saffron pilaf, finished off with local cheese and a Bordeaux, just superb. I'm super keen to try local food and some uniquely Catalanian dishes such as escargot, boudell pigs blood and creme brulee. Not to mention the cheese and charcuterie.
Anto caught a cold after spending there wonderful days in Paris and now I've had a grog, I'm so tired and in bed blogging. Have not stopped living it up since we stepped foot in France. Not even jet lag stopped us!
I'm here as a guest and his parents are so hospitable and gracious. I couldn't have asked for more. I will try to settle in and learn as much of the language as possible. Will do some running too to lose some of this cheese and salami weight. The terrines here are to die for. As are the buckwheat crepes. And the wine is simply delectable and excites me no end.
I'm going for a run tmr which will hopefully make me feel less guilty for indulging.
