So were two pretty average girls, about to embark on the world..... (bit of a killer statement).
i thought i should let you all know how our travelling adventure came about and a little bit more about us, that way you can get a feel for the rest of the blog whilst we are away. I also wanted you all to read at least one decent entry as in all honesty I am shocking at commiting to a diary - it is my new year resolution every year and it lasts all of 4 days, at which point i have four full pages detailing everything from what i ate, down to converstaions i have had - and the rest mainly filled up with boring single sentences such as period due. Needless to say not great reading. Therefore i hope that there is at least one entry on our blog that you might enjoy and it may in fact be the one that was written before we even went away! The great thing about a pre blog is that if you like it you can follow us and if not then basically you can p%*# off. Now I'm not saying that this will be great reading, so please don't get your hopes too high. FYI it will be me (Kim) who does most of the blogging due to Jess being illiterate and lazy ;)
Soooooooo lets begin, ONCE UPON A TIME... On a freak Christmas shopping trip to Oxford we decided to go into STA to LOOK at some flights. We planned our route the guy asked is if we wanted to book it, we glanced at each other and in unison said yes (purely i think because we can't say no...) It resulted in us buying each other the most expensive Christmas presents we have ever brought. To be honest unless we win the lottery i will never spend over £1,000.00 on someones Christmas present (well maybe if they were Simon from the inbetweeners.....) Anyways we returned home to let our mums know about our plans. For any of you who know our parents (we are very much mummy and daddy's little girls) this was a bit of a surprise leading to our mums instantly getting on google, firing ridiculous questions and asking about the sensible things such as insurance (is this for our safety or merely the aspect of a potential future payout???).
Anyways we saved really hard over the past few months, with nights out and shopping expeditions being few and far between. The last few months have gone into such a blur. That it feels like it was only yesterday when we walked into STA and booked our flights.
our imposing trip has also meant that our parents have been super nice to us, ranging from the shopping trips (please don't let our dads see this.....) to the buying of essentials (every girl needs tampons) and the countless dinners (cause we all know we want to get fat before getting in a bikini) yes pammie!!!! that one was aimed at you!!!!
So Jess is pretty well traveled - Canada, Thailand and Southampton ;) but I have only even been as far as Spain apart from New York at Christmas.... and i hoard the unique ability to get sun burnt in around ten degree heat which should make for an interesting travel trip. on a previous kim and jess holiday to Cyprus it can be reported that a bottle of spray on suncream was not in fact rubbed in after being sprayed (really should read labels) and led to a disastrous patchy sunburn which left me bed ridden for a full day. We wont be repeating this - CREAM ALL THE WAY!
Anyways were off on a huge adventure and have approx 30 hours left in the country. Not that I'm counting or anything. We have already faced the huge difficulty of packing. (me and jess could open TOPSHOP take 2) so this week has been gruelling. We have endured the countless phonecalls to each other - with near tears on the fact that we just might not be able to take the sandals that would be essential to ALL of our outfits and do you think that we would be able to take the sandals and leave the mosquito nets out? hmmmmmmm....... my Backpack split at around 6.45pm this evening (too many knickers apparently - i am going for 7 months mum!!! ) which led to a mad dash to Oxford to get a new one. Had to bribe my brother to come with me by providing him with a burger king but at least i wasn't left crying on my own....
i really should finish packing my day pack but BIG LOVE to all of our family, friends and errr pets (Bamba and Bilbo) i promise we will try to keep you updated as much as possible. Dubai is our first stop with sandboarding and the Atlantis water park on the agenda - so I'm sure we will let you in on all the fab details of that. Alternatively we could be posting about lost luggage, flight delays, terrible plane food, or losing a passport (which is probably ALOT more likely)
PEACE, and LOVE, Kim and Jess xo
