The overnight train last night was a not as nice as the one we took before, and the timing was rubbish as we had to leave mid afternoon. It was also incredibly hot!
We arrived in Bangkok at 6.15 this morning, had a shower in the station, it was cold and it didn't make me feel any cleaner, mainly because Bangkok is a really dirty place. My feet are actually black.
After leaving our backpacks at the station we got the subway and the skytrain to the boat dock. Stopping off on the way for breakfast, where Kate spectacularly got caught on the table and made a loud crashing noise! We got another one day boat pass and headed to Khao San Road so Kate could get her hair cut. Her hair looks pretty! From there we got back on the boat and went to the Grand Palace. We were both wearing vest tops so we put on these shirts they supplied us with, which was a lot of fun in the blistering heat. We paid 250 baht to get in, which I thought was an extortionate price and though it was all good to see, it far too hot to enjoy it. Plus once you've seen one Buddha, you've seen them all!
We went to a flower market next, which wasn't that exciting but I don't know what we were expecting. It was exactly as it said it was. We then went over the river to Wat Arundel. We could have gone in but we didn't want to pay and it looked like alot of walking up steps in the heat so we went back across the river and back to Khao San Road. We ate dinner in a place just off Khao San Road. Kate ordered some food that was so spicy she couldn't finish it and then made her feel ill.
Tonight we're getting the overnight train down to Surat Thani and then in the morning getting the ferry over to Koh Samui.
