Kiara's viaje en rewind
It as been almost month in Peru and we are still visiting ruins. We have visited Puno, entering form the titicaca lake, spent some time on the Amantani and Uros island and then moving south towards Arequipa. Ther landscape changes quite a lot considering the altitude difference of about 1500m. In Arequipa we have done the 3 days trekking in the Colca cañon, very worthed, with just the 2 of us, a girl and the guide.
We moved to Cusco then, where we had a week before starting the Inka trail on the 17th of May.
Cusco itself is very turistic and strategical point to visit all the Sacred Valley and the little town in it, as Chinchero, Pisac, Ollaytaytambo. Every day we found some place to visit, in particular the nice sunday market in Pisac and sacsaywaman. As a break from the ruins, we have done rafting on the 13th of May, very cool with the Mayuc agency.
Now it comes the difficult part to be described..the inka trail. I guess that every trekkers has something different in his mond when doing this trail, may be a personal challenge, a walk to enjoy nature, a jump in the past Inka culture, just love for moutain trek...i guess mine was a bit of all of these, and most a challenge with myself. i Have never been a good trekkers, but i think i am good in resistance.
First day: easy and nice nature
Second day: quite tough but very rewarding at the end
of the 2 passes
Third day: a pain for your knees...
I enjoyed the group a lot: Murdo, from Scotland, Leah from Australia, Gerard from Ireland, Anne, Adam, David and Christie form the States. Our guide Victor was also very nice and well prepared to all kinds of questions we had. The service and the organization was very good as well!
Leaving Cusco, we went to Huacachina to relax our muscles in a big swimming pool. We had lots of fun in sliding down on sand dunes and doing dune buggies!
Time went wuick and we decided to take a bus to Lima and going North.
On the bus we had a bad surprise of a bag stolen with all pictures cd burnt on the trip, camera and some personal belongings. ou can imagine our feelings arriving into Lima...it is now going a bit better.
The capital was too caothic for us and after 2 days we took off for Trujillo..nice and peace!
We enjoyed it so far, this time the main attraction is visitingpre-inka cultures moche and chimu. Here we arrived pretty early yesterday and just relaxed in the afternoon on the sunny beaches of the little town near by called Huanchaco.
We met 2 French friends, Jeff abd Cyril, from our previous tours done in Bolivia and spent the night sharing experiences done along the way.
Today we arranged a tour to Huanca de la Luna ( quite interesting) and Chan Chan. I am glad we had a local knowledgeable guide, who explained very well about these places. Mainly it is all mud bricks and it is quite boring visiting them by yourself. On the bus i had to answer to lots of questions from a peruan gent, who had italian roots and was curious about how Italy is today, in particular politics. It seems that in Peru, the main subject is politics! In a weeks they have the election and it is going to be a very hard dispute between the 2 parties. Lots of walls ( even on houses )around the towns are painted red and white ( the colors of the peruan flag), reporting the names of the candidates. I am thinking if in italy Berlusconi could start painting all the walls with his big face on it....
Tonight we are taking a bus direclty to Huaraz, where we will stay 4 days, trekking and enjoying the mountain area once again, before going back to Lima and the traffic!
