DAY3:
Today we're doing the North Shore.
We started with a great country breakfast at kountry kitchen, just down the street. Had a really good Mediterranean omelet and Geo had a 1 banana, 1 chocolate chip, and 1 macadamia pancake. We shared everything of coarse.
We visited an old lighthouse called Kilauea Lighthouse that had some amazing views.
Geo noticed a coconut stand on the side of the road called
"The Coconut Experience" so we stopped and had our experience. She put a hole in a coconut and gave us a straw. That thing had at least 32 oz of coconut water. It was good. Then opened it up and ate the rest if it.
Next stop Hanalei Bay. WOW!!
It's really one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Beautiful clear water with the NaPali cliffs in the back. Felt like I was in heaven. On the green lush cliffs, you can see waterfalls In the distance. We spent about an hour on the bay then went to Tunnels Beach which was even clearer than the first. (didn't think possible). That's was an awesome place for snorkeling. You didn't even need a mask. There were cute little fish swimming around us. A sea turtle swam right up to where we were and the surf knocked him right up to me. I touched his feet and shell and pushed him away. He was so cute. He was 50 times bigger that franklin. About 24 inches across. I loved him.
We continued on to the end of the road where it dead ends to the sea at Ke'e beach. That's where the trail begins to the Kalalau Trail. We plan on doing it before we go home. It's 15 miles long but we plan on doing just the 2 mile in and out so 4 mi total.
For lunch we stopped at a little place that a local recommended called
Red Hot Momas. Really good healthy tacos. All the food is so great and fresh here. It would be really easy being on a diet here with all of their fresh fish and delish fruits and beautiful hikes....
Hmmm maybe a should stay here a few months!!!!
We ended our day with exploring the Westin, The St Regis and Hanalei Bay Resort. It's a timeshare in our book so I wanted to check it out. OMG. They have the most awesome view. I for sure want to stay here next time. We hiked down to the bay and watched the sun set. The day couldn't of been more perfect!!
