Kevin and Joannie on tour
Friday morning: made our way to Suzuka circuit which was easier than we thought as we caught the MIE train to Koba which stops at Suzuka Ino station. The race track is an easy 15 minute walk but it was extremely hot. At the circuit there was very little shade and we melt5ed slowly during 3 hours of free pracice. We walked half way round the course and saw many of its famous features.
By the time we got back to the hotel we were exhausted and cobbled a meal together from the convenience store next door, rather than go out.
Saturday: again back to the circuit. Watched qualifying from our seats which were just past the start line with views of turn one and two.
In the evening we were less tired and looked for restaurants. In Sakura-dori we found an Italian. There was not English menu but we managed to order a special veggie meal, and not a single word of English was exchanged! Quite pricey......
Sunday: again to Suzuka. The local crowd are impeccably behaved. No one stands up, there was no litter left and the clearly adore Kamui Kobayashi. There were also quite a lot of Jenson fans. The race was at 3 pm so it was getting cooler. The drivers' parade was in vintage cars, which Kevin tried to photograph. Kamui Kobayashi stopped his car and ran to his fans in the Kamui Kobayashi fans' designated stand.
Long journey home on a stopping train, but the train was pleasantly not as packed as a London tube carriage. Returned to hotel, did laundry and ate again in our room.
Didn't see much of Nagoya because of long days at track.
