Friday 3rd November 2006.
Here I am in Tunbridge Wells - about to venture off on my travels! Eeek - how exciting! Only 2.5 weeks to go and already I've said a fond farewell to Caroline, David & Charlie, also to Lisa & Chris. And so the list of farewells goes on. In the first photo album for London you'll find pictures of some of my lovely friends and family. To be honest they are there so I can go and look at them and remind myself what you all look like!
And if you're wondering about the giraffe comment on the home page, well I figured while I'm in Africa (which is my first stop) I'd see if it's possible to ride a giraffe. I'm sure it must be. I've had a few horse riding lessons now and I'm getting my confidence. So I think while I'm away and sitting in my overland truck, I'm going to design a special saddle that will enable me to ride my giraffe - then wander around Africa looking for a volunteer. I shall call him Gerry. Love Kerry x

Nothing in this world is accomplished without passion.
Visited the folks in Wales at the weekend and said goodbye to them and my friends in Wales. Getting very nervous now - only a week and a day to go. Am holding it together though. Just about.
Simon bought me a harmonica at the weekend. I casually announced to him a couple of weeks ago that Kate was taking playing cards and some sort of travel board game and I said I'd bring a harmonica. He suggested that perhaps I might be better off if I just bought small travel speakers for my Ipod instead! Hmm!
I had visions of me sitting around the campfire entertaining people with my interesting facts like the one I learnt from Lisa about using milk to wash your eye out if you got chilli in it, and playing the harmonica. However, everyone has found the harmonica story very funny, except my mother who thought it was a great idea. Thanks Mum. I can always rely on you to understand. Anyway, I feel ready to face the world now with my harmonica (and travel speakers).
I hope Gerry, my giraffe likes the harmonica.
Bye for now, Kx

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves
Today is an auspicious day - it's my leaving lunch at work. I can't believe it's come round this soon. We're all off to The Hare shortly. Just thought I'd write a quick entry though and a thanks to Steph who has brought me round a beautiful poem:
Warm be the Sun by Sarah Morgan
Warm be the sun that shines upon you, Soft be the winds as they breath on you, Smooth be the roads that rise before you, Keep you in peace 'till we meet again
May you have shelter in storms to guide you, May you have stars in the night to guide you, May you have ever a friend beside you, Keep you in peace 'till we meet again.
Off to lunch now! And remember:
We can all fly as high as the dreams we dare to live, unless we are a chicken!

Monday 20th November 2006
It's the last day before I fly out and I'm very nervous now. Friday was a sad day leaving work - the last 5 and a half years of my life have been great spent at Crazy Horse - I've been lucky to work somewhere I've loved with such wonderful people. I'll miss them all very much, particularly Belinda, my boss. I was also very touched by Mike's leaving gift to me. We share a love of music and he put together his top 10 desert island discs and has challenged me to come up with mine as I travel over the course of the year! A tough challenge if ever I had one.
But here I go off into the great blue yonder. I'll update the website as often as I can. Miss you all very much. And as Kate said to me the other day:
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about?
