Backpack with Kerry & Nat
We're in Sydney again at the moment.
We got the overnight Greyhound bus back from Melbourne to Sydney and this Junkie Aborigine woman started talking to us while we were outside the bus, she stunk, was off her face, 8 and a half months pregnant and sooo loud ( very embarassing!!) Then she was telling us in full view of everyone about 'the Aborigine community that had refused to let her have an abortion but now wanted to take her baby off her and get it adopted as they get $10 000 per baby, and they're injecting her with methodine to get the baby addicted and make her look like a junkie!' (i dont think they needed to MAKE her look like a junkie! Anyway they'd run away from the Aborigine community an were on their way to her mums in Sydney (her poor mum!!) Shewouldn't stop talking to us- it was awful!!!! We got on the bus and guess who's seat was just in front of ours! yep u guessed it, her and her bloke and their 6 pack of beers!! 5 mins into the journey she had given us a 'present'- the Karma Sutra!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was mortified!!!!! Then she started slagging everyone off inc the bus driver and she used f#*"#*g at least 3 times in every sentance!!!! She kept sneaking off every half hour for a sneaky fag in the loos and the bus lights flashed everytime and the bus driver was getting really angry- we thought the bus was going to blow up! Then in the middle of the night she started freaking out cos she hadn't had a hit and her arms and legs were flying everywhere and she was shouting, she kept turning round to talk to us but we were trying to pretend we were asleep- it was soo scary-she was totally freaking out! Then when we were off the bus she gave me her magazine and insisted i have it (we'd already just accidently left the Karma Sutra on the bus in fear of what diseases it may be carrying!!!) THEN she starts telling us about the fact she IS a junkie (suprise!!!) has not long done 7 years in jail and didn't get rehab, has Hep C and at 8 and half months pregnant shouldn't have been on the overnight bus as with HepC you're prone to blood clots!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, the magazine got left behind too!!!!
Sydney's the best city.... heaps to do, great weather, beautiful sights and on top of that amazing beaches! Went to Bondi the other day... its nice but not as great as everyone makes out! The oprea house is beautiful and the views over Darling Harbour are lovely too. Spent a week with my (nat's) mum and dad over new year and then they flew up to Queensland for a week and they're flying into Sydney today for their last few days.
We've already done quite a bit in Sydney, lots of shopping and sights!! Went tot the Aquarium the other day, that was cool although looking through the glass made us feel sick after a while (wierdos!!) We saw lots of amazing fish, my favourite was the calamari and Kerry's was the Cuttlefish!
Yesterday we followed the map on an hour long walk in the sun to the sky viewing tower ( the tallest tower building in which you go up in a lift and see views all over the city!) Kerry was sure she had the right placebut guess what....... we ended up at the bloody Astronomy OBSERVATORY!!!!!!!
The sky tower was only a street behind our hostel..... don't ask how we got them so confused but we did- its Kerry and Nat after all!!!
By the time we got to the actual place, the que was soo long that we didn't bother!!!!! We did go on this simulation ride through Australia called Oz Trek!! It was great- I screamed the whole way throuh it!
We went to the cinema at 3 30 in the afternoon yesterday to see Chicken Little, we ended up coming out at 8 30 after 3 films!!! We were a bit naughty and went screen hopping!
Oh more unfortunate people news........ we have been so good to people over the past few months considering how broke we are. We've beengiving lots of homeless people food and change in every country right through our travels and they have been so appreciative. BUT THEN....... this morning we were having a coffee and croissant outside this bakery when a tramp came and sat down next to us. Being our caring selves we went and brought an extra croissant for him. Kerry handed it to him and said 'this is for you' he replied 'EAT IT YOURSELF' nastily and Kerry said 'but we bought it for you' he replied by grabbing it and lobbing it into the main road...................... we were mortified!!! There's appreciation for you!!
