So three months into my travels and I've decided to Start writing a blog. Lots of catching up To Do but I guess I'll Fill in what I can remember from
The start.
In September I arrived in Bangkok. Lulled into a false sense of security by the fresh cool air of the airport air con, I stepped through the automatic doors only to Be met by the humid air that hits you like a thousand sauna's. It's loud. Incredibly loud and the smell here is strange and at first makes you gag.( by the time i was in Bangkok for the 3rd time this smell became a source of comfort and familiarity, but more of that later).
Being late at night and tired from 20 hours travel and jetlag. I chose to take a meter taxi into town. Yellow blue and pink taxi's lined the street waiting for a Farang to take advantage of and they didn't have to Wait long around here. You have two choices when using a taxi. Agree a price first or use the meter. ( always use the meter).
500baht into town and I also had to pay the tolls. I now know i was ripped off.
Half an hour drive in a pretty pink taxi and we arrived at Bangkok's backpackers Nirvana...Koh San Road.
KSR is by no means a big road. But the character are huge. Men woman and children selling their wares. Everything from knock off Calvin Klein and skull candy's to tailor man suits at bargain prices and sex shows to rival
Amsterdam's red light district.
Straight away your like lambs to the slaughter. The pale skin and look of wonder on your face makes you an obvious target for the touts, and they pounce like a ravenous tiger on a lame goat. " tuk tuk"," suit"," ping pong" and even the odd " marijuana, cocain" thrown in there for good measure. Weaving through the masses I jumped into the first hotel I could find. Choosing the spend the extra and have a better look in the Morning. Though a long stay in Bangkok was not on the cards at this point.
A midnight swim in the rooftop pool and a good nights sleep and surely it was be better tomorrow.....
