We decided that today was just going to be a lazy beach day. After all the running around in Japan and then getting to Jeju and exploring yesterday, we are worn out!
After breakfast, we headed down to Jungmun beach, which is about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The beach is on the East China Sea and the current and waves are quite strong. After walking down the beach for a bit and finding that the Hyatt doesn't have a sitting area with chairs, we found some patio tables and umbrellas and prepared to sit down at them. Just as we were doing so a guy came over and told us you had to rent them for 20,000 Won for the day (about $20), so we had to move again. We ended up just spreading out towels out on the sand, but with no shade.
Christine wanted to layout for a little bit, so while she did that, Kent walked down the beach, and back a couple of times. We then headed into the sea to cool off. The waves were breaking very close to the shore, so it took a while to get through them and out to some calmer water where you could float and relax. After treading water for a bit, Kent headed in and wandered down the other way on the beach, looking for shells. Christine stayed in the water for a while longer, enjoying the coolness. When the waves break near the beach, they are filled with sand so it's almost impossible to get out of the sea without being covered in it. Very annoying!
Once we were both out of the sea, we decided that we would head up to the outdoor pool where we could have both sun and shade for a while. We met Christine's mom on the beach walking back and she decided to head up to the pool with us for a while.
We found a nice spot under an umbrella by the pool, ordered some lunch and just relaxed. Christine decided to get some more sun (which turned out to be too much sun), while Kent enjoying himself by reading a book (no surprise to anyone). Then we went into the pool to have a quick dip to cool off.
Around 3 pm we decided it was time to head inside to the AC and have a nice nap. It was a great do nothing type of day, something we both really needed.
We went back to the same buffet as last night for dinner and then called it an early night. There were some singers at the buffet for entertainment, and entertaining they were...in a sense! The dancing was humourous, and the singing left something to be desired. (Click on the picture for a laugh!)
