The event in Lebanon was a success. The Israeli government put pressure on its Lebanese counterpart to cancel the rally at the Beaufort Castle. However, the Lebanese government did not cave in. That, in itself, was a victory. But, according to the Palestinian organizers, they succeeded in bringing over 5000 people to the protest site in over 120 buses from the various Palestinian refugee camps. Lebanese, Palestinian, and international delegates spoke to the largest crowd that the Castle could safely encompass and to a very large representation from the media. And I think, the historical significance of the venue was not lost on anyone: the Beaufort Castle represents the occupation by Christian Crusaders for a two full centuries in the Middle East, a full thousand years ago. Palestine has now been occupied by the Zionist invaders for 64 years. Left's hope the Global March To Jerusalem, and the wildly successful worldwide support it received, will speed up the end of the current Zionist occupation and hasten the liberation of Palestine!

Khaled Khaled Mouammar Hi Ken. I am glad to read a more positive account of the march in Lebanon. Someone earlier had drawn a grim and pessimistic picutre of the march in Lebanon. Wish you a safe return to Canada. 4 days ago Avatar
Sukayna Sukayna I am also glad for a more positive view on the event. Because of all the complexities in the situation including pressure by the israeli government, and the Lebanese government's fear over its people, it happened the way it did. I would have though the people would march anyways no matter how dangerous, and that surely would have brought a lot of attention. But I guess I don't the details of the whole thing. I don't think Ken asked for the removal of Jews from the land. I see his statement as a symbolic one. Yes Zionists will be forced to go meaning Palestine will be a land for Muslims, Christians, and Jews. There is definitely no room for Zionism if you want peace. Thank you to all of you! Safe trip back!!!! 3 days ago
