After an amazing few days in Airlie we headed on the road again, this time I drove Shrek to Rockhampton where we stayed the night in another caravan park, and we got greeted by a community of people living in trailers, it was our first experience of that and to be honest we felt like complete t*** camping out next to them, only because our car is such a loud colour and they seemed to not want strangers looking at them, and also this particular town just seemed like it had not quite realised we are in the 21st century, you know just the feeling we got, when we asked if they had internet I honestly thought her head was going to explode with the sheer strain of trying to work out what I had just asked, but hey at least they were cheap, anyway we got up early and headed to the Capricorn caves for an hours cathedral tour around the limestone caves which have loads levels and are so amazing, its called the cathedral tour because one of the caves is actually a church where they have choir concerts and also weddings in there too, its very special actually. The tour was very interesting and is actually the oldest tourist attraction in Queensland. After that we drove into the town and were greeted by big statues of cows as it's the countries 'beef capitol' and its said to have two million cows in a 250km radius of the city so yes very old style little place, anyway we went a bit wild and visited the botanic gardens which were very pretty but in actual fact boring as hell but they did have a small zoo which was free to see so we saw some cute koalas and kangaroos and birds and loads of small animals. Rockhampton proved to be a bit dull so we moved on to Agnes water and 1770, which is where captain cook first set foot hence the name, these two tiny places are so sweet and does not have much to offer other than surfing….yes we went to surf school. To be honest I did not really think surfing was for me until I did it and I had so much fun, its so hard though and the first day I did not even manage to stand up so was getting so annoyed with myself, but on the second day I did it and it is so worth it. Its so tiring and we both woke up with such a sore body, no wonder all those surfers have knock out bodies, sheesh I am definitely in the wrong profession, pro surfer is now my next title, watch out Kelly Slater!! Darren did really well and stood up loads of times, but hey I was not the one who lived in South Africa for 20 years so HA, ok fine I am just s*** and the bruised knees and chafed legs prove it but I had so much fun and we are even thinking about buying a second hand surf board as now every beach we get to we can surf!! I tell you I am just a water baby, first I conquer scuba diving now I am soon to be a nine times world champion in surfing.
Next we head to Rainbow beach for a few days and then we head to Frasier island where we are joining a group of nine people and going around the island in a 4x4 for three days, so very much looking forward to that.
Enjoy and as always miss you all, hope you are all good and enjoying life xx
P.S keep those messages coming as love getting them.
