Arrived in Boston yesterday - our eight hour greyhound bus journey turned into nine and was a pretty uncomfortable ride. Crossing the border from Canada to the US wasn't as bad as what I'd thought - it took a long time to question everybody once off the coach and me and Amy along with a few other internationals were lead to another room where we had our finger prints scanned and a photo taken, but other than that we weren't interrogated at all...infact, the guards were really pleasant!
Our first full day in Boston we signed up for the Fenway Park tour - the Red Sox baseball teams stadium. As we couldn't get to watch a baseball game while being in the States due to it being out of season (like everything else we have found!), the next best thing was to take a tour around a stadium.
As we approached the grounds I was a little disheartened as it was quite an ugly stadium but I needed to give it the benefit of the doubt. After paying $12 which I thought was pretty expensive and then joining a tour that had already started we walked out from the upper stands to see a total disappointment! .... Half of the stadium was under construction and the pitch was completely covered with a plastic sheeting! we could just about hear the tour guide over the amount of noise! I was not impressed - especially as no one had said before we handed our money over that we would be paying to see a building site!
The tour guide however was a really funny and enthusiastic guy and you could tell he was a die hard Boston Red Sox fan.
We got to see the pitch from different perspectives and different heights and was given alot of interesting facts.
We were then taken to see the hall of fame where there were many bronze plaques of past baseball players.
Generally had quite a good day and met a few interesting people.
