Today's been a really chilled out day in Pai, but there has been the constant thought with all of us that today is our last day together as a group as we all head in different directions tomorrow. It's a sad feeling as over the last four days we have built friendships and the thought of moving and having to start again on your own is unsettling. Cynthia and Alicia are heading to Chaing Mai although separately, Jo is staying in Pai for another few days, Phil, Ben and Nick left this morning, Anique has headed off too, Karlotte is also heading off tomorrow morning and I head to Laos tomorrow evening. The feeling of leaving wasn't helped this morning when Steve left after 2 months of being in Pai (and many more months travelling), he's headed home to the UK and you could see how upset he was to be leaving and returning home. It's surprisingly hard to leave the people you meet especially when you've literally spent 24hrs a day with them. It's a intense relationship that's built up especially when you are travelling alone. I'm really going to miss Cynthia, Alicia and Jo.
Catirina, Alicia, Jo and I went for breakfast this morning, then chilled at the hostel. We went back to the hostel and relaxed and waved goodbye to Steve. Jo and I then decided it was time to get our tattoos and after a bit of internet research headed to the tattoo shop (sorry mum, but it was clearly going to happen). We booked an appointment for 3pm and decided to have a Thai massage first. I have been bent in to positions I never thought were possible. As I lie here in bed writing this my body aches as if I've done a 24hr gym session.
Tattoos complete and we headed back to the hostel and met the others, we had all planned to go for a last dinner together. Unfortunately finding somewhere to eat was problematic and it ended up being just me, Cynthia, Alicia and Jo. We had a lovely Thai meal and a really nice evening together, before picking up a Nutella and banana rottee from the street sellers and once again heading back to the hostel.
We used this time to each research the ongoing journey and where to go. I have a boat booked to Laos tomorrow, but I'm now regretting booking this and think I should have headed straight to Cambodia. So I'm thinking of just spending a couple of days in Laos then getting a flight to Cambodia. I don't think I'm ready to leave Pai yet and this is making it hard to decide what to do or make any firm plans and decisions. It's true what the backpackers of Pai say, this place is a vortex once you are here you can't leave.
