Yesterday we travelled from Cairns to the Daintree via Palm Cove and we had lunch at the Marina in Port Douglas. We crossed the Daintree River on the barge with caravan in tow and came across a very steep winding section which gave the Zuki a good work out! Yesterday we visited Kuranda. Wow, what an awesome day! We got up early and headed for Freshwater Railway with Chook and Nat and their two children to catch the early train on the Kuranda Rail. We made it safely to Cairns yesterday. We had a lovely drive up from Rollingstone, with a short stop for morning tea at Cardwell right on the water. We are staying at Cool Waters Caravan Park with our new friends that we met a week ago, unfortunately we were put on a site right next to a busy arterial road so we had noisy traffic all night! On our way to Cairns we stopped for a cuppa at this beautiful road side rest area right on the beach. So beautiful! Thought we might have to break up a fight . . . A Followmont truckie turned up & started abusing a non English speaking tourist for almost causing an accident back up the road. Anyway, lovely view!

Today we got up early, drove back to Townsville & caught the ferry to Magnetic Island. We hired a Tropical topless car to drive around the Island. Lochie is so excited about the 'cool pink car'. We went to the Bungalow bay Koala Sanctuary which was really lovely, very informative and interactive. Lochie got to see lots of animals, birds and reptiles close up.
