Got on a bus this morning and headed for the Simatai part of the Great Wall of China with a view to climbing. This is supposed to be the most difficult part of the wall to climb and Teresa and I found this out first hand! But this was an amazing experience, the surrounding views were absolutely amazing and the scale of the Wall is just beyond belief. Also beyond belief is the condition of the Wall, in some parts it's really dangerous and climbing becomes a struggle. This did not correspond with my mental images of strolling along the wall taking in the scenery. Bought the obligatory "I climbed the Great Wall" t-shirt and plaque. Overall a first rate experience.
Visited the Pearl Market in the afternoon. The shopping here is great but the staff are so aggressive it's really difficult to even look at anything and you must bargain hard for everything. Had Peking roasted duck for dinner, it was delicious. Went to the Chinese Shaolin Kong Fu Show, again this is a must-see if visiting Beijing, it was spectaculour. No photography allowed unfortunately.
