The only time we seem to get up early on this trip is when we have a bus to catch, this time to Vang Vieng.
We left at 08:30, actually let me rephrase that. We were supposed to leave at 08:30, but actually left some 45 minutes late.
Initially we were picked up on a tuk-tuk and all of shared the opinion that surely this couldn't be our 'minivan' for the next 5 hours, could it? Thankfully it wasn't and it dropped us off at the station some 15 minutes later.
The journey itself was strange. One second you were enjoy the stunning views (photos wouldn't do it justice - nor did I get any) and the next you thought you were literally going to die. People overtaking on blind corners and heading straight for a head on collision, the windiest roads you will see in your entire life with near vertical drops alongside the narrow tarmac. One lorry had crashed and was lying on it's side which filled us all with confidence of arriving safety.
I spoke to an English guy from Burnely for some of the journey about travelling to football and even which country I was best trying to get a hair cut in. Random. At least I knew it was random when I asked.
Upon arrival in VV a Dutch couple asked us if we had anywhere to stay and informed us of a nice place a few minute walk from town so we accompanied them to Phongsavanh Resort where we got a nice little bungalow each with AC for around £5.
In the evening we wondered into town to get an idea of what the place has to offer and to get some much needed food.
Tomorrow sees us either drinking and floating down a river on a rubber tube (called tubing) or sat in a bar watching reruns of friends or family guy all day. This place knows how to party...
