S: to get back to New York we drove through the night, and stopped off at a truck stop to sleep in the dodge. As the car was so big it wasn't to uncomfortable just very cold - anything to save a few dollars lol. We said goodbye to the dodge, who had been lovely and headed towards Brooklyn. My aunt Debbie had a friend, Chun, who lived there and she was happy to put us up for the night. We finally arrived after New York traffic and she was great, such a lively, vibrant & caring person. Chun cooked us a mammoth dinner, which was delicious. We had a quick shower and headed back into the city.
J: after a quick wonder about the NYC street, finding markets, and Times Square we stopped in Applebee's for a pint before Chun took us to a quality pizza deli that sell $1 slices which are excellent. Since we first hit New York City I wanted to take Sam out to a jazz club, Chun took us firstly to Bb (B flat to us not musical types) a very smart club with a 3 piece jazz band playing. They were really good and I must admit I loved it, and the girls defiantly enjoyed the cocktails lol.
S: Chun had asked her friends about jazz clubs and next she took us to Fat Cat. It was a brilliant club/bar. It had board games like backgammon, chequers and chess to borrow. Pool tables and a jazz quartet in the corner. It was heaving but such a cool club to be in, I was loving it. The next morning Chun and her flat mate cooked us a full American breakfast of pancakes and waffles, they were delicious and James was in peanut butter heaven lol. Today was our last day and we wanted to head to Central park to have a coffee, bagel and sit down to admire the park, present again in so many films we have watched. It was a beautiful sunny day and the park was full of people relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.
J: after a walk about the park we found the Natural History Museum, and wow that place is huge and impressive. You could come every day for a month and still learn more I'm sure.
Then it was head back to the apartment to get ready for our flight home.
Chun was kindly cooking us some dinner, Sam had just had her shower while I tried to fit everything in my bag. Then Sam shouts at me that our plane didn't fly at 22:00 like we thought but at 19:30..... It was then 18:30!!! Sam was in a panic, Chun ordered us a cab and we ran out the door, I didn't even get to shower and we didn't get to eat the meal which was then smelling great. We had no idea what we were going to do when the cab driver said our ETA would be over an hour.
S: it was not the best situation to be in, but I rang Virgin Airways from the cab, explained our situation and the very helpful lady said not a problem we will get you on another flight tonight. I couldn't believe it quite yet as we had brought tickets with certain conditions.
We arrived at the terminal finally, everything always goes so slow when you are in a rush. We hurried up to the customer service desk, explained who we were and just like that we were booked on the 21.30 flight. I really could of kissed the lady, and told her so. By now we were finding it slightly funny and even pulling a few jokes lol. So right at the end of our trip we still had some drama lol.
S: the whole east coast experience has been amazing. We have completely loved the American experience, from the people, the history, the culture and experiences.
New York is everything that you expect to see from the television. I absolutely loved the city and everything that it had to offer. I'm glad we managed to squeeze in a visit. The food is fantastic and although the portion sizes are massive, but we combated that by sharing.
