S: So yet again we find ourselves in a petrol situation about to run out, honestly you would think we would of learnt by now but no James wanted to save a dollar on the price. Petrol is so cheap here you can get a gallon for $1.90 which works out to be roughly 30p a litre. We crossed through a border control as we drove next to the Mexican border, and the guy wanted our passports and the comment he gave us was, 'you've travelled a lot' and thankfully we didn't have any immigrants in the car to worry about. The countryside in America is breath-taking and as we drove through Dome Valley, we just looked around in awe.
J: Once we hit Phoenix I found a campsite and booked a spot, but when we got there it was an RV park and she shouldn't have let us stay but she was nice and let us anyway. But we were defiantly the smallest vehicle there by a long way. USA takes RV's very seriously and they are like homes, one we saw was a trailer style which had a proper lorry to pull it because it was that large!
In the morning we headed to do some exercise by walking up a local mountain. It's called Camel Back Mountain but we took the Echo Trail. Sam wasn't impressed as this was the extremely difficult route; advised not for inexperienced or people without the right gear. So off we went in our hiking sandals and took water and snacks for the 2700-foot route to the top. I'll admit it was very steep in places requiring all limbs, but we cruised up in 45mins to a stunning view and it was worth it, then slid down in 30mins, nothing to it! Although Sam won't give you the same story.
S: It was a good work out lol. To celebrate we brought a selection box of blue moons that we don't get at home and after four I was a little drunk. Now the lady that booked us in had said we could stay Sunday all day as she doesn't work and I think she might have felt guilty for charging us full price for a RV, so we stayed an extra night at no extra cost, and enjoyed a few beers.
