We departed Gatwick with the weather changing from summer to autumn. We arrived in Antalya to 33 degrees at 7 pm. It is large modern looking city with a charming old town inside it's own walls. Our hotel is in the middle of the old town in a series of old houses. It is a little gem - much better than the girls were expecting.
After check in, it was off to explore the old town - a beer overlooking the harbour was a good start then a walk by the Marina and through the tourist part to find a cheap place to eat. We decided that this part of Turkey is not that cheap when compared to Egypt but we live in hope.
Next day we managed to oversleep - not adjusted to the time zone. Ken woke us for breakfast and we finally got underway at 10. Ken was being uncultured and decided to stay by the pool. We had a good morning round the old town, in the museum (an old Ottoman house) and organizing how to get out of here by bus.
After cooling down with a swim (it was 35C), it was off to the archaeological museum by tram. Archaeological museums don't normally excite me, but this one was good - especially the statues and sarcophagi from Perga. We had not planned to go to Perga, so looked it up in the guide book to see if this was a mistake. We found it was not recommended as there was little at the site - not surprising it was all in the museum. We had a good dinner as tomorrow the travelling starts - a 6 hour bus trip.
