We arrived into Nadi at night and stayed at a homestay near the airport (Dee's Homestay). The woman who lived there, Dee was so helpful, as were everyone we came into contact with as we went through the airport. We were meant to have a shuttle pick us up and take us to Denarau Port, where you get the Yasawa Flyer from. However the shuttle didn't turn up so ended up having to hail a taxi and getting to the Port just in time to board the boat.We arrived at the White Sandy Beach Resort on the Naviti Island at lunchtime and were taken to our bure, which was situated on the beach - 15m from the sea. Then we were taken in the boat to another island to naked beach where they were having a picnic for lunch. The picnic comprised of a fish (still with head, fins etc), a root vegetable and a piece of papaya! It was actually quite nice and I don't even like fish. The guys had been spear fishing to catch the fish for lunch and they had also caught a reef shark - see photos! That night the staff got all the guests involved in the Bula dance and a few games - it was really funny.
The water was so warm and the weather, apart from the odd 10min rain, was so hot - I tried sunbathing one day but got too hot and too burnt.
For the time we were on the island we chilled out in two hammocks hanging in between our bure and the sea and read books. We snorkelled on the reef off our beach, which was absolutely stunning, with so many varieties of fish and amazing colours. We went to a beach on the other side of the island called honeymoon beach, the sea was a lot more rough on the other side and therefore it was less clear for snorkelling, still amazing though and I the reef on honeymoon beach was a lot deeper. We also made some bracelets out of coconuts one day.
We only had electricity at certain times of day - at lunchtime for an hour and at dinner time from dinner til the bar closed (which was dependent on sales). The evening electricity sessions became less and less as people weren't using their bar as they ran out of stock a few times and the selection was a lot more limited than the resort next door. They ran out of everything one day - I mean everything - I went to get a bottle of water and they had ran out and the barman suggested beer as they had even ran out of soft drinks - it was 11am so I decided against it.Later that night they ran out of beer aswell so they literally had nothing to sell!We lost electricity that night at 9pm - midway through reading!
