Today we go tubing! Responsible for hundreds of deaths a year! We buy our standard tourist tubing vests and dry bags and are shuttled off in a tuk tuk to the start of the river, we are welcomed with shots of whisky and quickly get involved in a game of flip cup which we lose and end up getting 'whaled' which Is a horrible concept where you take a drink and lie down and someone blows in your nose so you end up spurting it all out, like a whale. It makes me feel like a fresher again! Then we jump in our tubes and head up the river! We meet a few people we met yesterday at the lagoon and so there are quite a big group of us, the river is very very fast and the only way for people to get you into the bar is to throw you a rope which is a lot harder than it sounds, we end up losing half the group and so completely abandon the next bar which looks pretty dead and way, we make our way further up the river and manage to get everyone into this bar, people start playing basket ball and volley ball while we lounge about on hammocks drinking beer! And having standard traveller chats 'so how long have you been gone' 'where you going next' 'when was your last solid poo' and off course the whos had the longest bus ride competition,48 hours is the winner this time with nothing to eat but bird foetus's pretty hardcore! We have to get the tubes back by 6 so we head of at 5.20 and are still half an hour late! Getting off at the other side is a struggle, the water is shallow enough to stand but the current is so strong you end up getting knocked off your feet,it is easy to see how so many people have died and we feel very proud to have survived!
