I could hardly sleep last night. I was wrapped in anticipation for our trip to Victoria. After a steady month of planning the trip was only one night away!
In usual fashion, I had procrastinated on establishing our bus transfers and was left wondering: How did I get chosen to be the responsible one? Oh yeah, I volunteered. :/
I threw some clothes onto my travel bag, checked the bus schedule, readied some oatmeal and tried to fall asleep. I was very tired and this was fortunate because otherwise I wouldn't have slept much at all.
My alarm went of at 7:45 am. I planned to wake, head to the bank, have breakfast and a shower before finishing my packing and heading out the door for our 9:02am bus to metro-town. I couldn't crawl out of bed. So, warm, cozy, and lethargic I wasted time until 8:30 am. Suddenly, there was far too much to do! I'd have to cut out the bank and decide between a shower and breakfast. Could I get away with only washing my hair? No! I hopped into the shower and even had enough time to prepare a little oatmeal.
Lyzz emerged from her room looking cute in her new up-do and we chatted about our plans. I was packing up some snacks when she asked, "What time does our bus leave?" "9:02..." "We should get our there a little early then." So I gathered up the rest of my belongings and scarified finding a necklace and a hairband in my rush. Lyzz locked the door behind us and we were on our way. It's a damn good thing we left when we did because the bus had arrived and we had to run to catch it. Phew - We made it!
I looked through my packed lunch and to my horror discovered that I had left my oatmeal on the kitchen counter. After all the trouble I went through to find a container and matching lid. After sacrificing an enjoyable shower. After adding honey! Damn my comfortable bed!
On the bright side my bus schedule pulled through. Perfect connections all along the way. It was Lyzz's first ferry experience. She bought a few souvenirs in the gift shop and we waited for the ridiculous Triple O lineup to die down before we shared some French fries. Equipped with gravy and Triple O sauce we left the ferry. Just one more bus ride until we arrive. And look there! That's Jeni!
The nostalgia swept over me like a warm ocean breeze. I have a feeling I can expect a lot more of that now that I've returned back to my home away from home.
Oh yeah! On the ferry I changed my status to: I'm on a boat mother f***er. Don't you ever forget! Haha!
