Today we decided to go on a LA City Tour. It started out at the Framer's Market - a nice little shopping square with a water fountain and potential celeb watching. There was also a really nice food market area. The pizza we ordered was surpriingly good. Another surprise was that Om Puri (East is East - 'the dad!) walked in and out again! Just long enough for us to recognise him but not quite long enough for us to take a photo so you'll have to take our word for it!
The tour took us to downtown LA - the financial centre and Hancock Park (the first rich area with beautiful homes) We saw China town and the founding seat of LA where the mexican community were celebrating a Saint's day. The Staple Center (home to LA Lakers) and the music center as well as the Walt Disnet building - quite an impressive peice of architecture.
To get to our destinations we used Wilshire Boulevard which runs from Downton LA through to Santa Monica - thats through 4 cities! Puja said "Oh thats just like Welford Road in Leicester!" Yes Puja...its exactly like Welford Road!!! To be fair though, I have the worst sense of direction and Puja has at least navigated us around without getting us lost!
From downtown LA we went to Hollywood - we had already seen the Kodak and Graumann Theatres and the Walk of Fame but we had missed the Hollywood sign so we saw that from very, very far away! Next came the Sunset strip with celeb owned bars and scenes of famous suicides and deaths. Oh...and the place where Hugh Grant was caught with a 'social worker'!
By the way if anyone wants to own a home in Beverley Hills, with the current exchange rate, it should only cost around 3million GBP! Rodeo Drive was really posh - chandeliers for streetlights (lovin' the 'classless' society the Americans have got going on!). Sven Goran Ericson's wife/girlfriend(?) was sitting in a rather nice car outside Gucci!
That evening we went out for some food and watched Casino Royale in the Chinese Theatre which is amazing inside.
