Our 2nd stop in LA on this trip, only with more time than our previous ever-so-flash stopover back in March.Having got a taster for American rollercoasters in Santa Cruz, we decided to make a day of it at Six Flags Magic Mountain - pure chav Americana.Loved feeling like a kid again running from ride to ride, getting soaked on the log flume and screaming our lungs out on rides named 'Goliath' and suchlike. However, I've decided that the new fancy rides which throw you upside down, backwards, forwards, sideways, feet first, head first blah blah blah are not actually all that scary. You queue for hours just to be strapped into a full body brace that has passed so many safety checks that there is no way in hell you can ever move let alone fall out. Give me an old wooden Big Dipper anyday that click click clicks its rickety old self slowly up the ratchets before hurling you over the top with only a skinny metal bar on your lap for safety. No queues and no try hard teens trying to impress their giggling girlfriends.God, how old do I sound?
We then spent a couple of days in Santa Monica hanging out with hippies, homies and the homeless down on Venice Beach, cycling around the canals and attempting to swing on monkey bars at Muscle Beach. We finished off our stint on the Cali coast with dinner in Los Feliz with the lovely Helen who had just arrived all jet-lagged for her Californian road trip with her friend Katie. Thanks for staying awake to meet up with us Hels!
