Hey
We are now back in KL after a really relaxing time in Singapore. We got the bus there (it only cost us 8 pounds!), which took us over 6 hours, which included a little scare at customs when the bus driver kindly told us that if we didn't get through customs in 20 minutes we would be left! Bear in mind that Singapore is possibly the strictest country ever and most difficult to get into!! All was well though as we all managed to board the bus into the city centre.
The hostel we stayed at was called the Welcome Inn in Little India, and you can imagine my delight when I found out that there were 2 kittens there, Whiskey and Tequila! I have to admit they made my stay in Singapore and I was gutted when I had to leave them behind, although I did contemplate smuggling them into my luggage!
On our first day we went for a stroll down Orchard Road, and I was very good and avoided the need to shop...it was very difficult though as I am craving nice clothes!! We also went to the Night Safari, a must if you are in Singapore! We especially enjoyed the Bridge of Hell walk, realising how girly we were when we had to get Sue's maglight out to find our way through the dark patches!
For the first time ever, we did the "hop on hop off" city tours and spent the next day cruising around Singapore on the top deck of the bus, only going undercover during a momentary monsoon! That evening we dolled ourselves out and went out for dinner at Sketches, a restaurant owned by a 2 star Michellin chef, who we ended up chatting too (he was very strange!) and then on the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel for the infamous Singapore Sling. They had a live band on too, which was amazing and Sue, Laura and I got up to dance on more than one occasion!
Our last full day in Singapore was spent on Sentosa Island, we managed to get to a beach, although it was a bit surreal as we sat on the sand while the thunder rumbled above us! It was great to take cover in one of the beach bars and enjoy a Tiger beer as the rain came down.
We were all really tired so decided to head back to Bedz in KL for the remaining days before we head to Perth, so we hopped aboard another bus back to Malaysia for some home comforts.
Am still having a really good time, although I have to admit, I am missing my luxuries and am not sure if I am cut out for sharing dorms...I miss my own double bed, duvet and warm showers!! I have been told I will get used to this though...I'll keep you posted!
Hope you are all really well and missing you all loads.
Love always
Kat xx
