The restless race of the traveller’s heart before the journey begins, when anxiety and anticipation are tangled together; a ‘travel fever’ that can manifest as an illness
Her majesty's residence? Don't mind if if do!!
Shuttle bus picks us up at 7.05am. We walk out at 7.00am to our coach driving off. Great start!! To the tube!!! Turning a negative into a positive we head off for a brisk walk to awaken all of our senses. Peak hour on the tube also awakened all of our senses. Unable to squish our way onto the first train but the next one was only 1 min after.
We then boarded our fancy coach which was to be ours for the next 12hrs. Our tour guide we would soon discover was a sassy and slightly inappropriate but thoroughly entertaining and not very PC.
On route we did learn some interesting facts about the Royal family and how the London we know today came to be.
Once we arrive at Windsor Castle we walk from the carpark up through the charming village surrounding the grounds. First we head to view the Doll House. It is so detailed and delicate that it was lucky that the queen received it later in life or I think it would be a lot more worse for wear. Let's just say it would crap all over Barbies Dream House.
Then onto the State Apartments. I thought everyone was saying Departments... My bad. The rooms are all completely different and actually look like they are from a fairytale. I'm not sure what I was expecting but my expectations were definitely exceeded. Every room was overflowing with elaborate furniture, crockery and we even found a secret door. From floor to ceiling everything was divine.
My favorite room was the Crimson room. It was, as the name suggests, Crimson. The perfect mix of elegance and loudness! Just like me
