Back into WIFI and cell-service range again!! Also back to lower elevations and HOT weather !! Let's go back a couple of days to catch up: Left Moab heading for Rocky Mtn NP. Stopped at Vail to see the Colorado ski museum and walk about the village. Drove into the Ridge Trail Road (highest paved road in US - 12K+ ft). Magnificent views and rather scary drop-offs without guardrails!! Much pine beetle damage in the park :-( Campd at approx 8K ft overnight temps in the low 40's - sleeping bags felt very good; 2 nights here at that elevation and we were used to the cool temps very quickly. Went on a 4 hr trail ride on horses (1st time for Kathy) had a lot of fun and very sore knees (?) Thought the rear end or in-between would be sore... Drove down thru Big Thompson canyon and on into Nebraska past Chinmey Rock and a couple of other rock outcroppings reputed to be landmarks for the pioneers on the Oregon Trail. Spent the night at a working Cattle Ranch in a small cabin out on the prairie. Nice, but too many signs about Rattlesnakes! Great eats provided at the cabin and a little resort that does a steak cook-out by the Oregon Trail. Crossed Nebraska today checking out Scout's Rest (Buffalo Bill's ranch); Platt River Gateway Mem. Arch - most interesting was a military convoy transporting some kind of weapon along the freeway - fully armed & escorted by armored vehicles and helicopters. Temp tonight is 89 deg at 10:30!!

Sharon HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!!!! We have loved reading your blog. I will share it with Dad this weekend. Love, Sharon
Patrick I know what we mean about the knees and horse back riding. It was pouring down rain when we got off and I couldn't walk to shelter for about ten minutes. Check out the newest member of the big ten if you get a chance.
