So today started far earlier than is ever civilised. We were booked on a tour to go and see the floating Market. This was an experience and not one either of is ever want to repeat. It was utter tourist hell. We were carted around, and had an hour at the Market which was tiny and full of fakes and tourist tat. Which I'm sure is fine, but noone wants to get up at stupid o'clock to drive more than an hour to get there. That aside we were then taken to various other "tourist hotspots" we were not told about, including a place to ride elephants that did not look well cared for and "the most exciting show on earth" (apparently) which involved a man catching a cobra in his mouth and a fight between a cobra and a mongoose. Both of these things are essentially our worst nightmare. And to be dragged to them without being told was not cool. Anyway. That was how we spent the day. We got back around 3 and after sorting ourselves out we headed to Kao San road via a Tuc Tuc which was actually really really good fun. And we didn't get ripped off. We could of hugged him. But refrained. We then wandered around there, it's an odd place. Sort of cheap and full of tat and a bit like I imagine somewhere like magaluf is. It wasn't the worst place in the world though, and not as full on as we expected. After we went and got some food we headed towards the sky bar at lebua. Which was amazing. Stupidly expensive. But the best, nicest bar I have ever been in. It is on the 64th floor and you get hot towels and olives and nuts which seem to be in endless supply. We had some truly amazing drinks, Dennis had a black pearl, which was black berry based, then an Ernest Hemmingway daiquiri and then an old fashioned. I had a Rose apple martini, a spicy g&t and a cool as a cucumber, which was very Heston blumanthal with cucumber beads on top with cucumber infused gin. Aside from the very lovely drinks the views were spectacular. It was starting to rain slightly, but we decided to stick with it. Dennis got some really amazing ones, mine weren't as good, but I'm putting that down to him having a flashier camera.
After our day the evening really made up for it, it was perfect and just what we needed.
