UWI, Trinidad
SO I finally left for University of the West Indies in,Trinidad after partying all night in Toronto. I arrived for my connecting flight in Atlanta just in time for black clouds to completely envelope the sky untill it was dark outside despite being 4pm. Ten minutes later, the runway was a river and I was trying to calm the nightmarish thoughts of being trapped by a hurricane between where I'm going and where I came from. An hour later the rain stopped completely and the sky cleared up but it was too late for us to fly out and our flight was rescheduled for the next day.
In the hotel I was too wired to sleep very much so I passed the time by deciding to turn around and go home and then changing my mind every 5 minutes. I also tried to figure where EXACTLY I was in the world and then I cried. I cried because of my bad luck and because I was tired and because I didn't want to leave my sister and most of all I cried because I was scared s***less!
I finally arrived in Trinidad and made my way to the University of the West Indies where I currently am, and will be for the next 9 months. I'm exhausted but mostly settled in and registered for classes. The campus is beautiful and I will take some pictures to upload later. It's currently frosh week and the seniors are taking delight in torturing us though I rest assured by the 'senior speaker' that "they are not trying to kill us or cause us any detriment". I beg to differ. I was awoke at 5am today by Sean Kingston blasting over the intercom and then they expected me to do jumping jacks before I'd had my morning coffee and then someone named 'super senior vagikreem yelled at me because I turned my back to him when I walked out of the building (apparently this is unnacceptable during frosh week).
I'm finally full of coffee and ready to tackle the difficult tasks of a new country such as the ever perilous grocery shopping trip. At least they speak the same language as me.....sort of.....
