17th July
Hello everyone! Sorry I have been quite slow with the blogs this week. Have been up to a lot of exciting things and finding it hard to make it down to an internet cafe. I am truely having the best time of my life. I have made some great friends and seen some absolulty amazing things.
After leaving Xi'an we caught a 17 hour train to Chengdu. The train journey itself was rather exciting and quite an adventure! Was such a nightmare trying to sleep though cause the train was so jumpy and noisey. I also couldn't stop needing the toilet. I've become a serious squat pro now! I can even squat away on a train squator, which I have to say stinks like s***, gives you a cold ass as its just a hole in the floor and can be a bumpy ride! I have also mastered the art of pissing on a bumpy ground and having to constantly stop so that I don't piss all down my leg!
We got to our destination at 5.30am! Feeling like s*** we boarded a bus which took us to our hotel. Had a quick shower then headed out for breakfast. Yippy, sausage sandwich was on the menu! Oh my God it was rather unpleasant! The sausage was rather minging and the bread tasted like it had been frozen for a year! Still, Katie was hungry and s*** in a slab of frozen bread filled a hole.
We jumped on board a bus and headed to the Panda Sanctuary! Oh my, what a fantastic place. There were so many giant pandas and they were the most gorgeous animals ever. The babies were the cutest! I really wanted to steal one but I figured they are quite expensive to keep, what with all that bamboo they eat.
After the Panda place and my attempt of pinching one, we headed back to the hotel.
This afternoon was free time so we decided to go to have a massage! This was possibly the worst decision I had made all week. First me and my friend Hayley wanted to use the toilet. This woman took us into her flat for a wee. It was a very funny experience and quite sad as the flat looked like the Corn Exchange at 2am!
The place where we had the massage was very tragic! 4 beds lying next to each other, a wall, then another 4 beds! It was going to be cosy! We all stayed dressed, which was a disapointment! As I sat there waiting everyone else had started having a foot massage. As a joke I said 'I hope they are getting the fittest Chinese man to come and give me mine'. Low and behold, 10 minutes later and this man (the only man working there) should come in and be my massage man!!! And lets just say, he so was not the sexiest man in China. In fact, he wasn't sexy at all! And if the situation couldn't get any worse, the reason he was late was because he had a dodgy belly! So I had some Chinese guys s***ty hands all over my feet!
After having what felt like the s*** kicked out of me, my full body massage was over! It was so good but bloody hell, he worked muscles I never even knew I had. Then came the big question, 'you want cupping?'. Hey hey, cupping what exactly!??!?!! And in public!!??!! Now that's what all the celebs have these days, big massive cups stuck to your back to draw out all the toxins! I thought what the hell, it was costing a pound! s***ting hell! I have never experienced such pain in my life! 13 hugh cups covered my back and I was seriously fist clenching! I was doing a scream and laugh at the same time and eventually needed the guy to get them off! My back was completely ruined! It looked like a massive octopus had been giving me the biggest love bites on my back! I will try and upload a photo for you to see how bad it looked! That was last week and the bruses are finally fading! For 2 nights after I couldn't even sleep on my back!
After visiting Chengdu we headed further south to Leshan and went to see the biggest outdoor seated buddha in the world! It was truely awesome! Really really cool to see and just absolutly massive! It was one of the things I was most excited about seeing in China. Afterwards we took a bus to Mt Emei and spent the night in a Monastery. It was the coolest thing ever! The showers were interesting to say the least. A shed with a pipe coming out the wall. It was infact a very warm powerful shower, you just had to make sure you didn't look up and see all the insects and spiders and also keep your flip flops on!The toilets were your standard hole in the floor but just concrete and quite scary! A bat spent the night in the ladies so everytime I needed a wee in the night I used the mens! 4.30am and I was woken by the monks doing their TWO HOUR morning ritual! It was the most anoying yet interesting thing. Unfortunatly for me, I couldn't get back to sleep!
We then spend the day climbing the mountain. Oh my deary me, it was quie possibly one of the hardest treks I've ever done. All uphill and thousands and thousands of steps! We were greated along the way by monkeys, which really scared me as they can get angry and try to steal things from you.
12km later and we reached another Monastery where we stayed the night. This was really fun and luckily we didn't get woken by a 2 hour morning session from the monks.
Early the next morning we did an 18km trek back to the other Monastery. This was hard work. The temp here is ridiculously hot and again we had thousands of steps to climb, uphill and downhill. By the end our legs were shaking and we were in desperate need to reach the end. My shoes had given me the fattest blister on my little toe and I couldn't walk so my friend Dave gave me his sandles. I looked like a true Brit with my socks n sandels! I was feeling sexy! Esspecially with the amount of sweat dripping off me! You could have sailed a canoe down my ass I was that sweaty!
The afternoon we treated ourselves by going to a posh hotel which had hot springs. This was cool and me and my friend Hayley took full advantage of the amazing showers they had there. There was a pool full with little fish which we sat in. You would sit still and the fish would come all over you and suck all the crap out of your skin. It was such a wierd sensation and had us all in giggles. Very interesting though!
The last 3 days we have been on a boat cruise going from Chongqqing to Yichang. The food on board has been absolutly disgusting and the boat itself fairly average. It reminded us all of a Butlins on a boat! The evening entertainment was classic! First night was talent show. We all got up and did the Macarena! Only they didn't have the CD so we had to do it to a completly random song! The Chinese must have thought we were such d*** !
We are finally in a hotel tonight and I'm so grateful! Just having a few hours spare to get online and catch up on here.
Thank you all for your lovely messages. I want to be able to message you all on facebook but facebook is still banned here due to the riots! Argh! So anoying! And Happy Birthday to all my lovely friends who have had Birthdays this week! Miss you all! xxx
