So i am here!

The plane journey was ok, apart from realising my seat was in the middle of two people who were reading the Daily Mail. But being the brave girl i am, I took a deep breath and sat down.

Watched some films, ate some lovely aeroplane food and relaxed. Flying in over Rio at night was pretty special. After i got my bag i went to find a taxi and quickly realised i should have at least learnt a little portugese. I was nearly dropped off at a Hospital instead of the Hostel -ha... true story..! i got ripped off too.

Anyway, the hostel is pretty basic, but the people were pretty friendly. Mostly English, Australian and Spanish. I was handed my first cocktail and sat around with everyone which was nice.

Yesterday i got up and went to Copacobana beach.Which is really lovely. However, it was a measly 24-25 degrees, (erm why did i come here in winter again?) and i gave up after a few hours when the sun kept going behind clouds and i had seen far too many men in speedos and thongs. They really love the nakedness here!

So i decided to drag myself to Sugarloaf - and am so glad i did. It was truely amazing. You can look straight out over everything and it´s just awesome. you feel a bit special for a few minutes. However in true Lazarus curse fashion, my camera died half way though the cable car journey, so had to use my trusty little Nokia to get some pictures. This was followed by another night of eating and drinking.

I´m off to Christ the Redeemer and then I meet the group i am going to set about my trip with today. I´m a little apprehensive but it should be good and hopefully the hotel will be nicer. We´re then going to a favela party, which should be interesting...i have seen some pictures they look like very jersey shore...

After speaking to various people i have come to the conclusion that when i return to London after this trip i will be paler, fatter and bruised.... On the flipside, Brazilians eat cake for breakfast and have the strongest drinks ever
